Project description

This research was based at Hochschule der Künste Bern (HKB) and hasd SIK-ISEA as a partner. It was devoted to the identification of organic components of complex artists’ paints, in particular tempera paints from around 1900, using GC-MS, DTMS, high-resolution 2D methods such as FTIR-FPA imaging and specific chemical preparation techniques. Defined simulation systems were used in an early phase; real paint samples from works by Cuno Amiet and Alexej von Jawlensky were analysed later on. For further information see: HKB.
