Geboren in Wattwil (SG). 1992–94 B.Sc. und 1995–96 B.Sc. Hons. in Earth Science, University of New England, Australia. Thesis zum Thema Palaeomagnetik an Stalagmiten. 1997–2001 PhD in Earth Science, Universität Bern, im Bereich quantitativer Analytik seltener Erden und Methodik der chemischen Th-U-Pb Datierung des Minerals Monazit mit micro-XRF. Seit 2001 an der Hochschule der Künste Bern HKB, Fachbereich Konservierung & Restaurierung, seit 2002 Dozent und verantwortlich für das kunsttechnologische Labor des Studiengangs Konservierung & Restaurierung mit Fokus auf anorganische und bildgebende Analytik.

Seit Juni 2006 Teilpensum Abteilung Kunsttechnologie des Schweizerischen Instituts für Kunstwissenschaft (SIK-ISEA) in Zusammenarbeit mit dem kunsttechnologischen Labor der HKB in Bern.
