We celebrate 75 years of SIK-ISEA

In 1951, responding to an initiative by art historians Marcel Fischer, Gotthard Jedlicka and Linus Birchler together with artist Augusto Giacometti, a group of foresightful art lovers founded the Swiss Institute for Art Research. In 2026, we will be celebrating its 75th anniversary and with it the impressive history of an institute which, just as its founders hoped, quickly established its indelible presence in the Swiss art landscape as the leading competence centre for artmaking in Switzerland.

As a token of gratitude towards all those who follow and support the work done by SIK-ISEA, we will be marking this jubilee with activities across various regions of Switzerland. This includes a programme at the Institute’s principal base in Zurich, the series “SIKART on Tour”, the Villa Bleuler Gespräche, events organised by the Swiss Advisory Centre for Artists’ Estates and a number of highlights scheduled by our Antenne romande in partnership with cultural institutions in Western Switzerland.

Agenda

More information about these events and about other activities will follow in due time.
